Svetlana is the Barcelona-based duo we didn’t know we needed, but they’re here now and they’re here to stay no matter what. Born in 2020, after endless party nights that ended up with them at one place or another composing songs, they’ve gone from being an inside joke to becoming one of the freshest names on the alternative scene. With their debut album MARRANA released in the spring of 2023, Svetlana have come out to make noise with a tour of over 30 dates, making it clear that they’ve come to stay.
The single “Moderna del Raval” was the starting gun, but MARRANA is their major statement of intent. In the album, the duo offers an electropop explosion that combines various styles from EDM to house, including rumba and urban music (dembow, reggaeton), all well-seasoned with a large dose of attitude and irreverence. The album is both an ode to the "marrana" life where euphoria, precariousness, contradiction, and partying blend into a unique and necessary sonic narrative for these times.
